Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto confirmed that fairness, transparency, and speed are the city’s priorities in supporting transport workers affected by rising fuel prices. The city does not select beneficiaries directly but actively coordinates with national agencies to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
During the city’s flag-raising ceremony, Sotto personally thanked tricycle drivers, TNVS operators, delivery riders, and jeepney drivers for their patience as the city coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Tricycle groups are prioritized, and submissions are processed in order to guarantee timely and equitable distribution.
Sotto stressed that transport workers were among the first sectors to feel the impact of rising fuel prices. The Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program provides financial support to help them maintain daily operations and livelihoods. He said the city is closely monitoring the process to ensure aid reaches those most in need quickly and efficiently.
By combining direct coordination, clear processes, and accountability measures, Sotto is ensuring that Pasig’s transport workers receive critical support while keeping the city moving. His hands-on approach demonstrates proactive leadership focused on protecting workers, maintaining service continuity, and delivering relief during economic pressure.
