Known as one of wrestling’s most recognizable figures, Mick Foley ended his relationship with WWE over an issue unrelated to his career.
The Hall of Famer announced he is cutting ties with WWE, the world’s largest professional wrestling promotion, because of its close relationship with President Donald J. Trump.
Foley said the decision followed Trump’s public comments after the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. He described those remarks as the point at which his long-standing concerns became untenable.
Foley explained his decision in an Instagram post, saying WWE’s political proximity to Trump had troubled him for months. He cited the administration’s immigration policies, which he described as cruel and inhumane, especially toward people who “look like immigrants.”
