From ‘Top Gun’ to ‘Batman Forever’: A Career in the Spotlight

Val Kilmer’s acting career took off in the mid-1980s, and he quickly became a household name.

His breakthrough role came in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, where he played Lieutenant Tom “Iceman” Kazanski, a rival to Tom Cruise’s Maverick. The role cemented Kilmer’s place as one of Hollywood’s top leading men.

Kilmer’s success continued with his portrayal of Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991), a performance that earned him critical acclaim.
