Senator Bong Go‘s health work marked another concrete result in Northern Samar after the Super Health Center in Lavezares officially opened on May 26, giving residents a new local facility for basic medical services closer to their community.
Go’s Malasakit Team joined the inauguration led by Lavezares Mayor Edito B. Saludaga, local officials, health workers, and health officials. The senator also supported the project’s groundbreaking on September 21, 2022, before the facility was completed in the municipality. In a May 27 post, Go’s office said the center will offer services such as outpatient care, birthing, laboratory diagnostics, x-ray and ultrasound, pharmacy services, medical consultations, and early disease detection.
The Lavezares opening adds to Go’s continuing work to bring frontline health services closer to communities, especially areas where distance can make basic care harder to reach. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Go has consistently backed Super Health Centers as part of a wider primary care effort meant to strengthen local access before patients are forced to seek treatment in larger hospitals.
“These centers serve as the first line of defense in our healthcare system,” Go said in a previous Senate release on another Super Health Center project, stressing the role of primary care facilities in easing pressure on bigger hospitals and expanding access to essential services.
The Department of Health has described the Super Health Center rollout as part of the government’s primary care expansion, with more than 600 centers funded and constructed nationwide since the program began in 2022.
