Singer-actress Jessa Zaragoza has revealed that her husband, veteran singer Dingdong Avanzado, is hospitalized for an undisclosed health condition and has undergone surgery.
The couple, longtime supporters of PGMN, appealed for prayers as Dingdong continues to undergo treatment and recovery.
In an Instagram post, Jessa said Dingdong has been in and out of the hospital since Father’s Day on June 22 and was admitted again following an operation. She did not disclose his diagnosis, the reason for the surgery or the hospital where he is being treated.
“Since Father’s Day, June 22, we’ve been going back and forth to the hospital, as Dingdong’s been facing health challenges,” she wrote.
Jessa also shared that she has postponed several work commitments while caring for her husband, saying she has been unable to focus because of his condition.
“I’ve been MIA dahil sa mga todo pasang kaganapan sa life. Pasensya na sa mga na-postpone kong scheds. Di ako maka-focus talaga,” she said.
Reflecting on the experience, Jessa said caring for a loved one with an illness has been physically and emotionally demanding.
“I’ve realized, di din biro mag-alaga ng loved ones mo na may karamdaman. I have to be on my toes all the time pag may kailangan siya,” she said.
She thanked relatives and friends who visited the family, brought food and continued praying for Dingdong’s recovery.
“We appreciate you all. Thank you for the prayers,” she wrote.
Jessa said the family hopes Dingdong will be discharged before his birthday, adding that celebrating outside the hospital has become his birthday wish.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating Dingdong’s birthday out of the hospital. Yun na lang daw ang birthday wish niya,” she shared.
She also expressed gratitude to cardiologist Dr. Perfecto Palafox, urologist Dr. PJ Fernandez and infectious disease specialists Dr. Ariola and Dr. Ramos for caring for her husband.
Jessa ended her message with “Thank you, Lord,” as fans, friends and fellow celebrities continued sending prayers and messages of support.
