Filipino teachers now have free access to AI training designed to reduce paperwork, simplify lesson preparation, and make classroom activities more engaging, with individual courses taking as little as 15 minutes.
Google Philippines has partnered with the DepEd (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education(CHED) (CHED), and TESDA (TESDA) to roll out the Google AI Educator Series, bringing practical AI training to educators nationwide.
The program offers self-paced modules lasting 15 to 45 minutes, allowing teachers to develop new skills around their existing schedules. Lessons demonstrate how AI can organize lesson outlines, draft school communications, and streamline administrative tasks that consume valuable teaching time.
Educators can also learn to create interactive classroom activities using simulations and real-world scenarios. Gemini’s Guided Learning feature helps students understand difficult concepts through guided questions, while Deep Research supports academic research for papers and theses.
The training includes effective AI prompting, data privacy, and academic integrity to help teachers use the technology responsibly.
Participants can earn digital badges after completing the modules and required assessments, providing recognition for skills they can apply directly to their work.
DepEd began offering the program through its Bureau of Learning Delivery Hub on September 28. TESDA has integrated the courses into its free TESDA Online Program, while CHED is supporting its introduction as an optional professional development resource for college educators.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the partnership gives public school teachers practical tools to ease administrative workloads and devote more time to teaching and mentoring students.
Google Philippines country manager Prep Palacios said the program builds on the company’s ongoing initiative to train one million DepEd educators, expanding access to practical AI skills.
Teachers can access the free training through Google’s official AI Educator Series website and the TESDA Online Program at e-tesda.gov.ph.
