Ricardo “Jun” Laingo Jr. spent years working as a security guard at Security Bank’s Dipolog branch while pursuing a goal he had already set for himself. He wanted to become one of the bank’s tellers.
Laingo, a father from Miputak, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, began working as an agency-hired security guard in 2010. He went through several assignments before being stationed at the Dipolog branch.
“Isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit pinili kong maging Security Guard habang ipinagpapatuloy ang pag-aaral ay dahil pangarap ko talagang maging isa sa mga empleyado ng Security Bank bilang isang teller,” Laingo said.
His journey began years before he entered banking. Laingo grew up as the youngest of five siblings. His father was a fisherman and his mother sold fish. During his elementary and high school years, he fished on weekends to earn money for his school allowance.
In 2018, Laingo received a scholarship from Security Bank Foundation under its Regalo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko program for agency-hired personnel and their children.
He enrolled at Dipolog City Institute of Technology and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science while continuing to work as a security guard. On July 2, 2022, he graduated with honors at age 32.
His move into banking did not happen immediately after graduation. Laingo worked for a major motorcycle dealer before an opportunity opened at Security Bank.
On March 3, 2025, he was officially hired as a teller at the Dipolog branch where he had previously worked as a guard.
“Sobrang dami ng nabago. Labing-isang taon akong security guard, at ngayon ay isa na akong teller,” he said.
Years after first pursuing the position, Laingo finally reached the job he had set his sights on.
“Ang pinakamahalagang aral na natutunan ko ay ang manatiling mapagpakumbaba.”
