PGMN launched an informal social media survey last Saturday, September 19, asking netizens who they would prefer as Sara Duterte’s running mate in 2028.
The post drew a total of 5,752 comments, with 3,563 recognized single-name votes cast for the eight choices. Rodante Marcoleta accounted for the largest share at 31.5% of the recognized votes.
The surprising result came from Atty. Jimmy Bondoc. who placed second at 30.7%, less than one percentage point behind Marcoleta despite having publicly said he has no plans to run for vice president. Bondoc previously denied speculation that he would seek the vice presidency in 2028.
One netizen highlighted what made Bondoc’s showing stand out, commenting,
“JB lang ang walang pangarap dyan mag presidente.”
Marcoleta’s first-place finish, meanwhile, comes while he remains detained at the New Quezon City Jail in connection with a pending plunder case. He has posted bail in separate cases, but remains in detention while his petition for bail in the plunder case is being heard by the Sandiganbayan.
The survey featured eight names: Alan Peter Cayetano, Bong Go, Rodante Marcoleta, Imee R. Marcos, Robin Padilla, Loren Legarda, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and Jimmy Bondoc.
Behind Marcoleta and Bondoc, Cayetano accounted for 22.0% of the recognized votes, followed by Go at 5.9%, Padilla at 5.5%, Arroyo at 1.9%, Marcos at 1.2%, and Legarda at 1.2%.
PGMN also conducted a separate informal survey involving Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, asking netizens whom they would prefer as her running mate if she decides to run for president again in 2028.
That post drew a total of 1,752 comments, with 262 recognized single-name votes cast for the eight choices. Risa Hontiveros registered the highest share at 26.0% of the recognized votes, followed closely by Gibo Teodoro at 25.2%. Leila de Lima accounted for 14.5%, Bam Aquino 11.8%, Chel Diokno 9.9%, and Kiko Pangilinan 7.3%, while Raffy Tulfo and Erwin Tulfo each accounted for 2.7%.
Both surveys served as informal temperature checks of PGMN’s social media audience based on the comments received.
