A landlady in Daraga, Albay, saw her birthday wish come true when all 11 of her boarders passed the September 2026 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination.
Corazon, known to her boarders as Tita Cora, was celebrating her birthday when the students surprised her with a cake and a birthday song. Before blowing out her candle, she voiced a wish for the aspiring engineers.
“Makapasa ang mga engineer ko.”
The moment appeared in a TikTok video shared by @enginazer. When the results were released on Oct. 2, the uploader celebrated the boarders’ success.
“RCE by God’s Grace!!! 11/11,” the post read.
The result was striking against the national figures. The Professional Regulation Commission reported that 6,337 of 17,062 examinees passed, a nationwide passing rate of 37.14%. The examination took place on Sept. 26 and 27.
The 11 students had been staying at Corazon’s boarding house while preparing for the exam. Their birthday surprise drew attention to the bond they had formed during their review period. When Corazon expressed her wish, the boarders cheered.
The account of their time together also described how Corazon kept the students in her prayers while they prepared for the examination.
“Palagi kami nasa prayers niya!”
For the 11 boarders, passing the examination marked a major professional achievement and a step toward registration as civil engineers. The PRC said registration for successful examinees would begin on Nov. 11.
For Corazon, the results fulfilled the wish she had expressed in front of the students during her birthday celebration.
The recorded moment became part of the story of their success, linking a landlady’s hopes for her boarders with the achievement all 11 would later share.
