A viral social media post is falsely using actor and former Makati Vice Mayor Edu Manzano’s name and image to circulate a political statement he never made.
The fabricated graphic, shared through Facebook, falsely claimed the Senate majority wanted to “work from jail” and accused lawmakers of creating laws under a supposed “hidden agenda” to acquit Vice President Sara Duterte.
Manzano later called out the post on his official Facebook page, labeling it “FAKE NEWS ALERT!” and tagging the pages Duterte Bobo Supporter and Philippine Showbiz Hub, which he identified in connection with the misleading content.
He also questioned how pages that “invent lies and malign our character” could continue operating, writing: “If a page can invent lies and malign our character, is that still free speech? How do we lawfully trace who is the admin so we can sue these people?”
While Manzano has not publicly commented on the recent Senate leadership changes, his recent posts have instead focused on corruption, accountability, and governance. Content shared on his official Facebook page has urged Filipinos to look beyond political realignments and demand accountability for those behind alleged corruption, while criticizing political theatrics and troll-driven narratives.
Much of his recent commentary has also centered on the multi-billion peso flood control controversy, calling for transparency and systemic reforms rather than political infighting.
The fabricated post surfaced as the Senate underwent weeks of political upheaval, with the leadership shifting from Chiz Escudero to Alan Peter Cayetano before Senator Win Gatchalian eventually assumed the Senate presidency.
