Filipino law students from the University of San Agustin College of Law in Iloilo secured a huge international victory after winning the 2026 Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition held at the University of Oxford in England in April.
The students emerged as world champions after defeating opponents from law schools from different countries during the competition’s international rounds held at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in Oxford. The event brought together 86 teams during the regional stages, with only 30 advancing to compete in the global rounds.
The winning Filipino law students were Marco Giorgione Dava, team captain and oralist, Gie Ann Marie Aloro, oralist, and researchers Kenverly Kirch Duran and Zynnie Zaragosa, who competed under the University of San Agustin’s Bulahan Price Team.
Dava also earned an individual distinction after ranking 10th among 98 oralists during the preliminary rounds, placing him among the top performers in a competition that featured participants from leading institutions, including the University of Oxford, University of Chicago, University of Vienna, Singapore Management University, NALSAR University of Law, and the University of the Philippines.
The Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition challenges law students to argue complex legal issues involving media law, freedom of expression, information rights and human rights before international legal experts and academics.
