Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso received the Outstanding Rotarian in Government Service award during the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila’s 46th Handover and 47th Induction Ceremonies.
The recognition highlighted Moreno’s work in local governance as he presented the city government’s priorities in health care, education, housing and job creation. He also thanked Manila’s business community for continuing to support programs aimed at improving public services and expanding opportunities for residents.
Moreno used the occasion to emphasize that City Hall must remain accessible to ordinary Manileños, business owners and anyone seeking assistance. He urged the public to report problems directly whenever they encounter poor service, misconduct or other failures involving the local government.
“Kung sakali namang maranasan ninyo ang aming imperfection, may kumatok sa inyong bahay o negosyo, huwag kayong magdadalawang-isip. Parang palengke ang opisina ko. Parang karinderya, bukas para sa kahit sino,” Moreno said.
The mayor’s message placed public access and responsiveness at the center of the recognition. His administration has promoted mechanisms for residents to raise complaints and request action on concerns involving city offices and local services.
Moreno also stressed the value of cooperation among City Hall, civic organizations and private groups in expanding programs for Manileños. Rotary organizations have supported community initiatives in Manila, including health projects and the donation of medical equipment to city-run facilities.
The award comes as Moreno continues to face the daily demands of governing one of the country’s most densely populated cities. His administration must address gaps in health care, education, housing, employment and basic services while ensuring that complaints from residents lead to actual action.
