Former Cavite congressman Ex-Congressman Kiko Barzaga has surged past two million Facebook followers just two months after being expelled from the House of Representatives PH for exposing corruption.
Barzaga entered the 20th Congress as Cavite’s fourth district representative and briefly served as assistant majority leader. He later broke with the National Unity Party and the House majority bloc, becoming a fierce critic of the administration, ex‑Speaker Martin Romualdez, and other powerful figures. He demanded probes into irregular flood‑control projects and challenged entrenched interests head‑on.
His confrontational style made him one of the chamber’s most visible lawmakers, but also drew repeated disciplinary actions. In May, the House voted overwhelmingly to adopt Committee Report No. 298, branding him “disruptive” and “disorderly.” Before the vote, Barzaga bid farewell to colleagues with a blunt warning: “Don’t steal so much.”
The expulsion marked the first removal of a lawmaker in nearly three years. Yet outside the chamber, Barzaga’s influence only grew. His swelling online audience underscores how political reach and freedom of expression now extend beyond public office.
The House stripped him of his seat. It did not strip him of his voice.
