Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., 82, is under investigation after his son claimed to have discovered hundreds, possibly thousands, of child sexual abuse images and videos among his belongings at his Cebu home in the Philippines.
According to Page Six, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, discovered the suspected material inside four boxes containing old mobile phones, computer hard drives, photographs and family possessions while searching for a spare phone.
The reported material included images and videos depicting toddlers and preschoolers, with some files allegedly stored alongside Thomas Sr.’s personal documents.
“When I found this material I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad,” Thomas Jr. said.
Thomas Jr., who previously cared for his father following serious health problems, said the discovery ended their relationship.
“I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him.”
He reportedly contacted the FBI, Pennsylvania state police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on July 10.
Page Six reported that Philippine authorities formed a task force involving the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and the Women and Children’s Protection Center. Investigators were preparing to examine the suspected evidence, while the FBI was reportedly preparing a separate investigation.
Thomas Sr. currently resides at a rehabilitation facility in Florida. No criminal charges have been publicly announced.
His daughter Samantha Markle disputed the accusations, claiming Thomas Jr. fabricated the allegations for financial gain and revenge.
The controversy has drawn attention to Meghan’s estrangement from her father since 2018, following a dispute over staged paparazzi photographs before her wedding to Prince Harry.
Page Six also reported a statement from a source described as close to Meghan.
“Now maybe people will finally understand why she has had nothing to do with her father since 2018.”
