The Philippines’ first-ever Nintendo Authorized Store opened to the public on May 22 at SM Makati, making the branch the country’s first dedicated authorized Nintendo retail outlet and the second of its kind in Southeast Asia after Bangkok, Thailand.
Located on the second floor of SM Makati in Ayala Center, the store is operated by International Toyworld, Inc. and M.M. Soft Enterprise, also known as Maxsoft, Nintendo’s authorized distributor in the Philippines. It is an authorized store, separate from Nintendo-owned flagship branches directly operated by the company in Japan and the United States.
The store carries Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 hardware and software, third-party game titles, gaming accessories, and licensed merchandise from Nintendo franchises including Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Pikmin, and Tomodachi Life. It also has demo stations where customers can try selected titles before purchase.
The branch opened first to media and influencers on May 21 before its public launch the following day. During the opening, fans lined up at SM Makati, with some arriving in Nintendo-themed outfits.
Nintendo executive officer Juro Takeuchi said the store offers consoles, Nintendo games, third-party titles, licensed merchandise, and playable demo stations. International Toyworld President Rosemarie Dylim said the branch was designed as a retail space for longtime fans and new players.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at around ₱32,000 to ₱35,000 at the store, depending on the bundle. With the Makati launch, the Philippines now joins Thailand as one of two Southeast Asian markets with a Nintendo Authorized Store.
