OpenAI has officially dropped Sora, their new AI tool that turns text into videos, and it’s blowing people’s minds.
Part of their big “ship-mas” release series, Sora lets you create 1080p videos up to 20 seconds long. If you’re subscribed to the $200-a-month ChatGPT Pro plan, you can even generate videos without watermarks and have unlimited access.
What Sora Brings to the Table
Sora isn’t just about creating short clips—it’s packed with features that feel like they’re straight out of a sci-fi movie. You can turn photos into animated videos, blend scenes together, and use a tool called “storyboards” to build videos from multiple prompts. OpenAI even added a “remix” option, so you can tweak your videos until they’re perfect.
For those on smaller budgets, the ChatGPT Plus plan gives access to shorter, 720p videos, but the real magic happens on the Pro plan. Even if you’re not a subscriber, you can still check out the explore page, where people are sharing their AI-made creations.
Not Without Controversy
The launch hasn’t been drama-free. Some artists claim OpenAI used their work during testing without proper credit, sparking some heated debates.
