The Philippines reached a new milestone in luxury tourism with its first-ever Two MICHELIN Keys in the 2026 selection, awarded to El Nido Resorts Lagen Island and Raffles Makati for providing an “exceptional stay.”
The distinction brought the country’s total to nine MICHELIN-Key hotels, reflecting the growing international recognition of Philippine properties for their design, service, character and overall guest experience.
El Nido Resorts Lagen Island was recognized for its forested cove setting, limestone cliffs, Filipino craftsmanship and environmentally responsible practices. Raffles Makati advanced from One to Two Keys, earning praise for its spacious suites, private butler service and residential-style atmosphere.
Four hotels—NUSTAR Hotel Cebu, El Nido Resorts Pangulasian Island, Hotel Okura Manila and Manami Resort—received their first One MICHELIN Key, while Nay Palad Hideaway, Fairmont Makati and Amanpulo retained their One-Key distinctions.
“This recognition reflects the continued growth of Philippine hospitality and the dedication of our tourism stakeholders in creating exceptional experiences for travelers from around the world,” Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said of the 2026 recognition.
The Department of Tourism views the distinctions as a boost to the country’s tourism brand and international profile.
The MICHELIN Guide assesses hotels based on five criteria: architecture and design, service and hospitality, personality and character, value for the price, and contribution to the guest experience. A One MICHELIN Key represents a “very special stay,” while Two Keys are awarded to properties offering an “exceptional stay.”
Angara-Mathay said the DOT will continue working with tourism industry partners to further raise Philippine hospitality standards.
