Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said public school teachers in the city will receive a higher monthly supplemental allowance beginning in 2027, with the current ₱1,500 benefit increasing to ₱2,000.
Belmonte announced the increase as Quezon City marked World Teachers’ Day, placing the additional financial support alongside the city government’s broader efforts to improve working conditions for teaching and non-teaching personnel. She said the local government has been investing in digital tools, school facilities, financial assistance and career opportunities as part of its continuing support for education workers.
Belmonte then confirmed that the higher allowance will take effect next year.
The increase adds ₱500 to the monthly allowance, equivalent to an additional ₱6,000 a year for teachers who receive the benefit. Belmonte said the adjustment is meant to recognize the daily work of educators in guiding Quezon City students and sustaining public school services across the city.
She also credited taxpayers for helping make the increase possible, linking the higher allowance to the city’s capacity to fund education programs and personnel support. The move strengthens Quezon City’s continuing push to direct local resources toward teachers, school infrastructure and the wider public education system.
