PGMN Anchor Brandon Vera, universally regarded as the greatest Filipino MMA fighter of all time, is now officially on the ballot for U.S. senator of Guam, campaigning on law enforcement, smaller government, accountability and individual responsibility, with a message focused on fighting for his community.
As of May 1, Vera is listed among the Republican Party’s Senate candidates, joining 17 others who have filed their bids. A UFC veteran and former ONE Heavyweight World Champion who went undefeated for half a decade, he built his reputation through elite competition, earning recognition for discipline and composure under pressure, qualities he now seeks to carry into public service.
In launching his campaign, Vera said he chose to run for senator in the 39th Guam Legislature because Guam and its people need someone to fight for them.
In an interview with Guam Sports Network in March, he noted that while he supports social programs such as food and welfare assistance, he believes there should be limits, stressing that able-bodied individuals should not rely on welfare indefinitely but instead seek employment and contribute to the island community.
He added that he wants to contribute to the island’s growth and progress, aiming not only to change how issues are addressed but also to dismantle bureaucratic barriers.
Vera is also recognized for his uncompromising integrity, a reputation shaped by years in professional sport and public life. He presents himself as a candidate prepared to stand firm and deliver results for Guam, bringing the same resolve into governance.
He is the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Champion and the 2005 WEC Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion. In September 2025, he launched his debut episode with PGMN, delivering a strong critique of the biggest lies surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine, along with a sharp criticism of Big Pharma and how people were “bullied” into taking the vaccine.
