Philippine cinema icon and rising political powerhouse Edu Manzano takes on a leading role in Call My Manager, a new HBO Original series premiering on HBO Max on Aug. 13.

Manzano portrays Matthew Buenaventura, one of three talent managers at the fictional Shine Artiste Management, alongside Judy Ann Agoncillo as Andrea Manuel and RK Bagatsing as Gabriel Soler.

The eight-part series centers on the managers as they navigate celebrity careers, demanding clients and the day-to-day challenges of running a talent agency. Their ability to stay in control is tested as personal issues and workplace tensions begin to collide.

The role immerses Manzano in the fast-paced world of the Philippine entertainment industry, where talent managers juggle negotiations, scandals and carefully managed public images while confronting personal struggles of their own. Rather than focusing on celebrity lifestyles, the series highlights the people working behind the scenes to resolve crises before they become public.

Beyond the screen, Manzano has reemerged as a force in the national political conversation. The former Makati vice mayor has revived his political voice through pointed social media commentary on corruption, governance and voter accountability, with his posts gaining nationwide traction and drawing renewed attention to his public-service background.

Also joining the cast are Gina Alajar, Christiana Zaleta, and Raf Pineda. New episodes will stream every Thursday after the Aug. 13 premiere.

The series is produced by Reality MM Studios, with Ronald “Dondon” Monteverde and filmmaker Erik Matti serving as executive producers. Matti also directs episodes alongside Mario Cornejo and Jade Castro.

Call My Manager is the Philippine adaptation of the French comedy-drama Dix Pour Cent, internationally released as Call My Agent!. The original series follows talent agents navigating celebrity crises, office rivalries and the unpredictable business behind fame.

The adaptation expands HBO Max’s lineup of Asian original productions while giving the Philippine entertainment industry greater exposure on a global streaming platform.
