Former Commission on Audit and Comelec commissioner Atty. Rowena “Bing” Guanzon challenged Palace Press Officer Claire Castro to a slap fight following Castro’s mimicking of Sen. Pia Cayetano’s emotional Senate moment during a livestream.
Guanzon directly called out Castro in a Facebook post, saying Cayetano’s breakdown should not have been mocked after the senator became emotional over remarks made during discussions about the recent Senate shooting incident.
“Ante Claire, you make fun of Senator Pia Cayetano because she cried sa galit at frustration kina Risa Hantivirus,” Guanzon wrote.
Guanzon also made it clear that her defense of Cayetano was personal, invoking their bond as sorority sisters.
“Senator Pia is my sorority sister, bitch! Let’s have a slap fight and see who cries first,” Guanzon wrote.
Cayetano earlier broke down in the Senate while reacting to Sen. Risa Hontiveros’ “parang walang nangyari” remark, saying the comment hurt those who were inside the chamber during the shooting scare. Cayetano said people inside the Senate were genuinely terrified and also lamented that some colleagues did not even check on them after the incident.
Castro has served as Presidential Communications Office undersecretary and Palace Press Officer since 2025, a position that includes leading Malacañang press briefings.
