Seven-year-old Elvis Carlos is drawing international attention after appearing as “Web Kid” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, marking his first movie role and putting a young half-Filipino actor in one of the world’s biggest superhero franchises.
Carlos appears alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in a scene where fans cheer for Spider-Man as he recovers in a hospital bed. Among the crowd, Carlos wears a Spider-Man suit while sitting on his father’s shoulders and makes the web-shooter gesture toward Parker, who returns the gesture.
Carlos’ journey to the film began with a simple audition. His talent agency said he landed the role after submitting a self-tape, which eventually led to his first major acting opportunity and introduction to a global audience.
The role also gave Carlos a special on-screen connection with his father, Filipino-British tattoo artist Ken Carlos. The two appear together in the same scene, with Ken carrying his son as they stand among the crowd.
Before joining the film, Carlos was already a longtime Spider-Man fan. Photos and videos of him dressed as the superhero showed his admiration for the character, making his casting a memorable moment for his family and Filipino fans who celebrated his representation in the Marvel universe.
Carlos’ appearance comes as Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to attract attention from audiences worldwide. For the young actor, the film marks the start of his acting career, turning his childhood love for Spider-Man into a place in the character’s cinematic world.
