Twin brothers who spent years helping their parents sell vegetables before sunrise reached the highest point of their academic journey after graduating with Latin honors from Passi City College.
Justin Aguacito Salutin and John Loyd Salutin of Barangay Imbang Grande, Passi City completed their Bachelor of Secondary Education degrees during the college’s 18th Commencement Exercises held at the City of Passi Arena on June 3.
Justin became the institution’s sole Summa Cum Laude graduate under the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics program. His twin brother, John Loyd, earned Cum Laude honors after completing the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English program.
Their achievement came after years of balancing school responsibilities with helping their family’s livelihood. Raised by vegetable vendors Joemarie C. Salutin and Nancy A. Salutin, the twins grew up assisting their parents in selling produce, often waking before sunrise before turning to their studies.
In his graduation speech, Justin shared how he and his brother worked alongside their mother at the market while pursuing their education. He recalled spending nights studying after long days of helping their family.
The Salutin brothers’ journey reached a defining moment as both stood on the graduation stage carrying the sacrifices of their family and the recognition earned through years of dedication.
Their parents’ work as vegetable vendors became part of the foundation behind the twins’ academic success, with their graduation serving as a major achievement for their family and community.
