A total of 9,364 permanent employees of the Manila city government will receive higher salaries starting September 1 as the local government implements the third tranche of its salary adjustment.
Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso announced the increase during the flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall on Monday, August 17, noting that it will provide at least a four-percent salary hike for all covered employees.
The adjustment will cost the city nearly ₱100 million, with the corresponding appropriation to be submitted to the Manila City Council for approval.
“Gumayak na kayo. Paikutin na ang papel nang maramdaman na sa September 1 ang umpisa ng lahat,” Moreno said. “So, congratulations to our 9,364 employees, and we will submit it to the City Council to appropriate such amount that is almost 100 million pesos increase in our obligation.”
He acknowledged Manila’s financial constraints but said the city would proceed with the increase while maintaining prudent spending.
“Magtataka kayo, wala tayong halos talaga, hand-to-mouth, pero as I have said, God will always provide,” he said. “Sa masinop, mainam, at epektibong paggasta, unti-unti natawid natin ang pangangailangan ng siyudad.”
City offices have been instructed to process the necessary documents for implementation.
Moreno also reminded employees to seek medical attention when needed during the rainy season due to leptospirosis risk, noting that doxycycline is available at city clinics and health centers.
