The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has rolled out a ₱10-per-liter diesel discount covering 141,724 passenger jeepney and UV Express units nationwide, offering fuel relief to drivers and operators whose daily income remains affected by fluctuating pump prices.

The board said the approved units came from its database of qualified beneficiaries and cover all regions nationwide. LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II said 12,688 beneficiaries have already logged successful transactions.

“This is proof that the government is still really taking care of the PUV sector despite the improvement of the prices of petroleum products,” Mendoza said.

The subsidy currently covers public utility jeepneys and UV Express units, with other public utility vehicles set to be included later. Mendoza said commuters are also expected to benefit since fuel prices directly influence public transport operations.

“This will not only benefit the drivers and operators but also the commuters as well,” he added.

The rollout has expanded from its original Metro Manila implementation to 4,299 participating gasoline stations nationwide through coordination with the Department of Energy. The national government has so far disbursed more than ₱13.3 million in discount subsidies.

Under the guidelines, only PUVs with valid and existing franchises are included in the database. Each qualified unit may avail of up to 150 liters weekly, equivalent to a maximum ₱1,500 discount per week. The subsidy is linked to the vehicle’s registered plate number.

Drivers are not required to secure a separate fuel card or submit an application. Once the plate number is verified through the Fuel Subsidy System at a participating station, the discount is automatically applied and the driver pays the reduced fuel cost.

The LTFRB said it will continue monitoring the rollout and addressing possible glitches. It will also supervise the program budget before transferring funds to Land Bank for processing, settlement and crediting to accredited gasoline stations.
