President Bongbong Marcos turned over ₱453.8 million in government funding for projects in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Sulu under the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program, with allocations supporting food security, education, hunger reduction, and other locally identified development priorities.
During the program at Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City, Marcos allocated ₱19.6 million for Zamboanga City, ₱138.2 million for Zamboanga del Norte, ₱136.2 million for Zamboanga del Sur, and ₱77.8 million for Zamboanga Sibugay.
The President also turned over ₱82 million in Socio-Civic Project Fund assistance to Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan. Under the allocation, every barangay in the province will receive ₱200,000, with half of the amount designated for scholarship assistance.
Addressing local officials and residents, Marcos said government programs are intended to directly benefit Filipinos.
“Kayo ang sentro ng lahat ng aming ginagawa. Lahat ng aming ginagawa ay para sa taong bayan.”
During his visit to Sulu, Marcos also witnessed the voluntary surrender of 195 high-powered loose firearms. Governor Tan said the turnover reflected the province’s continued support for the government’s peace and order initiatives and the public’s rejection of violence.
The Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program channels national government funding to local government units for projects identified by communities. The latest allocations form part of ongoing efforts to fund priority programs in Western Mindanao.
