Reservist Brig. Gen. Mikee Romero has retired from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Force, ending his tenure as Wing Commander of the Tactical Operations Wing Reserve Northern Luzon effective Aug. 19.
Romero’s retirement came days after the Commission on Appointments confirmed his promotion to brigadier general. In his retirement letter, he expressed gratitude to AFP leaders and the personnel he served alongside throughout his military career.
“It has been a profound privilege and honor to serve our country alongside the dedicated men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Romero said. “I am deeply grateful for the trust, friendship, camaraderie and opportunities afforded to me through my service.”
His work in the Reserve Force covered civil-military operations, disaster response, medical missions and community assistance in various areas, including Batanes, Tawi-Tawi, Pag-asa Island and Bulacan.
Romero also served as chairman of the Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines, which took part in flood-response efforts in Bulacan and helped provide medical assistance to remote island communities. ARRAPI likewise organized the 2025 AFP National Reservist Convention in Makati, attracting more than 4,500 attendees on-site and about 48,000 participants online.
During his 2016-2025 stint in Congress, Romero backed measures seeking better compensation for military and other uniformed personnel. He also supported initiatives related to the Philippine Air Force’s purchase of three C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft.
