Philippine National Police Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has directed the Anti-Cybercrime Group to prepare its operational role in the National Anti-Scam Hub, a centralized multi-agency platform designed to consolidate government action against online fraud, marking the PNP’s formal commitment to an initiative still awaiting its official launch. The directive comes as Philippine authorities face mounting pressure to address increasingly sophisticated cybercrime schemes targeting the public through online channels, text messages, and phone calls. Nartatez confirmed the PNP’s alignment with the broader government push, framing coordinated inter-agency action as essential to the effort.
The stakes are significant. Online scams have continued to proliferate across digital and telecommunications channels, exposing ordinary Filipinos to financial fraud with limited recourse under the current fragmented response structure. NASH represents the government’s most direct attempt yet to unify that response under a single operational platform, and the PNP’s formal entry signals that the initiative is moving from concept toward deployment.
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center – CICC proposed NASH as an integrated platform covering scams conducted through online channels, text messages, and phone calls. The hub aims to consolidate fragmented government responses into a single, actionable reporting mechanism. Its scope extends across civilian and law enforcement institutions simultaneously.
Partner agencies confirmed for the initiative include the Office of the Executive Secretary, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, and the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime. The PNP has been coordinating with these offices ahead of the formal launch. No launch date was specified in available reports as of April 30, 2026.
Nartatez emphasized the PNP’s commitment to the effort, stating: “Your PNP has always been all-out in crafting measures and in supporting any effort to make the cyberspace safe for everybody.”
