U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blasted Dr. Anthony Fauci for concealing a serious medical condition he suffered after publicly receiving a COVID-19 vaccine to boost public confidence in the shots.
Kennedy said Fauci received the Moderna vaccine during a nationally televised stunt meant to reassure Americans it was safe — but never disclosed that he later developed a dangerous condition involving blood flow to his lungs.
“Then he got one of the primary most expected adverse events, which was potentially deadly blood clots in his lung,” Kennedy said.
A publicly released record later identified the condition as a pulmonary infarction—damage to lung tissue caused by an interruption in blood supply.
“He kept that secret from the American public, and we only learned about it because of his diary,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy contrasted Fauci’s access to elite medical care with the limited information and resources available to ordinary Americans who followed government health guidance.
“He was getting the best medical treatment at his availability anybody in the world at Walter Reed and all these other,” Kennedy said.
“Meanwhile, he was telling other people to take this product and concealing the fact that he himself, after announcing this press conference to show was safe, had actually gotten very, very sick from a from an injury that was highly expected and highly likely to be caused by the vaccine.”
The remarks added to Kennedy’s broader assault on Fauci’s pandemic record. Kennedy has repeatedly blamed him for shaping the lockdown strategy that shattered work, education, religious services, and daily life across the United States and beyond.
During a Senate hearing in Washington on July 29, Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times while facing questions about research funding, the origins of COVID-19, and his past testimony before Congress. Sen. Rand Paul has pursued contempt proceedings, while Florida has opened a separate inquiry.
