Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso inaugurated the newly renovated San Nicolas Health Center in Binondo, bringing another community clinic back into operation after undergoing repairs and redevelopment.
Domagoso led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility, which falls under Manila’s Health District III, and said the project reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to improve public services.
“Kita niyo naman ang pagbabago, malinis, maaliwalas, moderno, at maayos,” he said, adding that Manila’s health centers should be “malinis, maayos, at may dignidad.”
Located at 521 Asuncion St. in Binondo, the health center is headed by physician-in-charge Dr. Maria Agnes L. Paderanga. Its reopening restores access to primary healthcare services for residents of San Nicolas and neighboring communities.
The clinic had been temporarily shut down on Sept. 29, 2025, after it was declared an “unsafe workplace,” making its reopening a key milestone in the city’s rehabilitation of neglected public facilities.
Domagoso said the city government plans to continue upgrading health centers across Manila.
“At hindi po tayo titigil dito,” he said. “Isa-isang babangon ang mga pasilidad na matagal na napabayaan.”
Beyond the renovated structure, the project supports the goals of the Universal Health Care framework, which promotes accessible, continuous, comprehensive and coordinated primary care through fully functioning community health centers.
