“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has crossed the ₱1-billion mark at the Philippine box office in just 12 days, giving Marvel’s latest release a major commercial milestone before completing its second full week in theaters.
Columbia Pictures said the film had earned ₱1,055,450,903 by its second weekend and was still screening in more than 600 cinemas nationwide as ticket sales continued to climb.
The movie made a strong impact from its opening day, earning ₱95.93 million to set the biggest Philippine opening for a Spider-Man film and a Sony Pictures release. The figure also ranks as the third-highest opening day in Philippine box-office history, trailing only “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Top Metro Manila cinemas contributed heavily to the haul, led by SM Megamall with ₱23.19 million. Power Plant Cinema followed with ₱22.23 million, while TriNoma, SM Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA posted ₱20.68 million, ₱20.65 million and ₱19.24 million, respectively.
The film picks up Peter Parker’s story four years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” in which the world lost all memory of his identity. Peter is now living on his own and fully embracing his role as Spider-Man while dealing with dangerous changes to his powers.
Previously released footage shows Peter struggling to control his abilities as they begin to transform. Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, describes the phenomenon as “mutating DNA,” foreshadowing the physical changes driving the latest conflict.
Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker, joined by Zendaya as MJ and Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon as Ned. Ruffalo also returns as Bruce Banner.
Having already surpassed ₱1.055 billion in 12 days, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has combined a record-setting opening with sustained nationwide ticket sales, quickly establishing itself as one of the country’s biggest cinema releases currently in theaters.
