Navotas City Rep. Tobias Reynald “Toby” Tiangco has filed 38 counts of cyber libel against Jesus Falcis, the political pundit behind several unreliable “tweety birds,” before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Navotas City.
The filing comes as Tiangco has publicly raised allegations involving Martin Romualdez and supposed budget-related corruption. Against that backdrop, Falcis has continued associating Tiangco with the “DDS” label, a tag the lawmaker has publicly rejected.
According to Tiangco, as reported by Abogado, he initially exercised tolerance and restraint after seeing Falcis’ posts, but the latter allegedly continued the attacks. Falcis’ posts targeting Tiangco have included labels such as “trapo,” “DDS,” and “Toby ‘Trojan Horse’ Tiangco.”
“He persisted, escalated, and intensified his attacks, proving beyond doubt that his conduct was not spontaneous commentary but a PREMEDITATED, SYSTEMATIC, AND RELENTLESS CAMPAIGN OF CHARACTER ASSASSINATION,” he said in the complaint.
The complaint cites alleged cyber libel under Section 4(c)(4) of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 in relation to Articles 353 and 355 of the Revised Penal Code.
Tiangco has pushed back against attempts to tie him to any political camp, saying, “People brand me as DDS daw. You cannot brand me.” He also said, “Hindi ako trapo. Independent ako. Basta kung ano yung tama doon ako. I will not say anything to favor anyone.”
Falcis made the complaint public on X on May 20 by posting the first page of the complaint-affidavit from the prosecutor’s office. Falcis still described the complaint as a “badge of honor” and said he would not be silenced.
