Julie Rose Defensor, wife of former lawmaker Mike Defensor, has denied any involvement in the alleged human trafficking case filed against her and her son Miguel by the National Bureau of Investigation calling the accusations baseless and malicious.
In an official statement, Defensor said neither their family nor their associated businesses have any connection to the establishment cited in the recent operation by the NBI. She said any attempt to link her family to the alleged activities is false.
Defensor said the accusations are part of what she described as a coordinated effort to manufacture a case against her and her daughter. She claimed the situation has affected employees across their businesses, estimating that around 1,000 workers have lost their jobs due to the controversy and its impact on operations.
The statement came after the NBI recommended the filing of human trafficking and drug-related complaints against several individuals, including corporate officers linked to Zerrin Dev’t Corporation and Chicago Entertainment Corp., following an entrapment and rescue operation in a Pasig City establishment where where 54 women were rescued and plastic sachets containing white crystalline substances believed to be illegal drugs were recovered.
