Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN) has officially surpassed one million Facebook followers just 21 months after launch, marking another milestone in the digital news organization’s rapid growth.
PGMN’s expansion has been fueled by sustained coverage of politics, public accountability, corruption, technology, sports, cultural events and other national issues.
One of its biggest campaigns has centered on former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Since declaring war against him 59 days ago, PGMN has published more than 1,300 posts on controversies surrounding the former House leader, generating over 165 million views. It is now the most viral anti-corruption campaign against a single person in the history of Philippine social media. The campaign has also resulted in Romualdez filing more than 80 counts and lawsuits against PGMN, including a libel case over content implying he has low testosterone.
PGMN now has 1,009,751 Facebook followers, 375,332 YouTube subscribers, 189,145 Instagram followers, 47,087 followers on X and 202,964 combined followers across its TikTok accounts—more than 1.82 million followers and subscribers overall.
The network has also generated 1,867,639,694 cumulative views and is on pace to cross two billion before mid-September, shortly before its 22nd month of operations. PGMN is now generating roughly one-fourth to one-fifth of the monthly viewership of the country’s biggest legacy media outlets while operating at less than 2% of their monthly expenses.
Its rise has been powered by anchors including CJ Hirro, Atty. Regal Oliva, Atty. Bing Guanzon, Jourdan Sebastian, Hazel Calawod, Orion Perez, Mervin Oliveros, Greco Belgica and others.
PGMN also announced yesterday that national juggernaut Kiko Barzaga is officially joining the network, bringing one of the most disruptive and unconventional political voices of his generation to PGMN.
From everyone at PGMN, thank you, Peanut Nation, for being part of our exciting, painful, unprecedented journey as the fastest-growing media company in Southeast Asia.
Especially to Martin Romualdez—thank you for bringing out the very best in us. We mean that sincerely.
