The National Bureau of Investigation has issued subpoenas to three vloggers who made false claims about President Bongbong Marcos’s health, Malacañang said Monday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said documents from the Presidential Communications Office had been forwarded for investigation into vloggers accused of spreading fabricated information about the President’s condition. “Ang binigay na dokumento ng PCO para sa agarang malalimang pag-iimbestiga sa mga vloggers na nagpakalat ng peke patungkol sa kalusugan ng ating Pangulo ay nai-forward na sa NBI. At nagkaroon na rin ng subpoena para sa karampatang pag-iimbestiga,” she said.
The case began on April 15, when the PCO’s Anti-Fake News Desk endorsed three Facebook accounts to the Department of Justice for investigation and possible legal action. Castro identified them as “Crage Anderpal,” “Rigondola Ping,” and “Iloy Bugris: The Queen of Revelations.”
According to the complaint, Iloy Bugris conducted live broadcasts claiming Marcos was critically ill. Rigondola Ping posted manipulated images showing the President in physical distress. Crage Anderpal shared fabricated news graphics claiming official confirmation of a serious health condition.
All three have been ordered to appear before the NBI and answer questions from investigators as part of the inquiry. The subpoenas require their presence and place the posts they published under formal examination by authorities.
Castro confirmed that the NBI had already sent the subpoenas. “Ito po ay si Rigondola Ping, Crage Anderpal and Iloy Bugris. So, binigyan na po, nagpaabot na po ng subpoena ang NBI,” she said.
The Presidential Communications Office said its Anti-Fake News Desk initiated the complaint for investigation and appropriate legal action.
